CCWA offers a great working atmosphere and a well rounded benefit package for eligible employees that includes a cafeteria plan offering employer paid medical, dental and vision care, 12 paid holidays per year, vacation accruals beginning with 10 days per year and increasing at stages with years of service, and 12 sick days accrued per year.

All probationary and regular employees are also enrolled in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), a defined benefit pension plan. CCWA also provides a matching contribution to 457(b) retirement plans.  CCWA does not participate in full social security, but does participate in Medicare.

Deputy Director of Operations and Engineering

The Deputy Director of Operations and Engineering, will be a member of the Management Team under general supervision of the Executive Director and will be responsible for all operational and engineering activities, including planning and directing the operations and maintenance of the water treatment plant, laboratory, distribution system and network system.  In addition, the Deputy Director will be responsible for all engineering work and will oversee project management work related to CCWA’s distribution pipeline, water treatment plant, and ancillary facilities.

Water Treatment Plant Operator- Trainee Position

Under general supervision of the Water Treatment Plant Supervisor, the Water Treatment Plant Operator - Trainee performs skilled work in the operation of the water treatment plant and makes minor repairs and adjustments to equipment as required. Takes responsibility for plant and distribution pipeline performance and works with others to provide high quality treated water for distribution to Authority participants.

This position is part of the Central Coast Water Authority’s succession management plan for Water Treatment Plant Operators and will receive training and experience working at the Polonio Pass Water Treatment Plant working a standard 40 hour per week schedule.  Once training is complete, the position will transition to serving as a relief operator that will cover shifts arising from vacation or sick time by other operators. Ultimately, this position is expected to advance to serve as Shift Operator and scheduled into the existing rotating schedule of Day, Night and Relief Shifts.
